Crumpton<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i class=\"\">Circa 1990<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p>Those were the exact words I read from an old, 3-hole punched, piece of notebook paper that my sister handed me recently during a holiday visit. \u00a0One of the ladies that worked in the same office as my dad was retiring and she found this; his personal mission statement (see the image) in a file she was boxing up. \u00a0There were several she saved from the group my dad was a part of, written back in the day &#8211; approximately 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>It struck me pretty deeply as I have always known the personal level of service he provided to many in his life. \u00a0He wasn\u2019t the most talkative guy on the planet, but he was always doing something for someone. \u00a0He was a man of few words and yet, a ton of action, from wood-working, his most enjoyed hobby, or pulling his grandkids around on their scooters.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career and his life, these ran in parallel more often than not, he was always trying to help someone. \u00a0He was one of the pioneers of the modern-era HVAC Service Technician.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes,&#8221; was his typical answer, then he\u2019d figure out a way to get \u201cit\u201d done. \u00a0It could be renovating an entire HVAC at an all-female college in Atlanta or taking a group of boys fishing. \u00a0He was the guy that all his friends called when things with their projects went south. \u00a0He was also the guy in the family that was known for being able to do darn near anything and he raised me to be the same way.<\/p>\n<p>I am tremendously proud of my father. \u00a0Proud of what he accomplished in his life. \u00a0He was born into family that was just one notch up the scale from a share-cropper\u2019s, working on the farm and then \u201cescaping \u201c the little south Georgia town for the Army. \u00a0He made a good life for us and served many along the way. \u00a0We had plenty, but never too much. \u00a0He taught values: \u00a0Trust, honor and truth to name a few. \u00a0He lived and died the same way: \u00a0By doing the right things the right way at usually just the right time.<\/p>\n<p>Being a doer is a great thing, for there are always things that need to be done. \u00a0Whether those things are for you, your family or others, doers are never done.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-5184 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gregcrumpton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Untitled-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gregcrumpton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Untitled-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gregcrumpton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Untitled-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gregcrumpton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Untitled.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>As I look at how my time is spent and what I do, I am proud that I have inherited his doer genes.
